Stringify Privacy Policy

Protecting your privacy is really important to us. With this in mind, we’re providing this Privacy Policy to explain our practices regarding the collection, use and disclosure of information that we receive through the Stringify Services presented by Comcast Cable Communications Management, LLC (which is considered the “Data Controller” for users in Europe).

 

Our Services allow you to use and connect to certain third party services, websites, devices and/or applications, and third parties may collect information through our Services. This Privacy Policy does not apply to any of these third-party services, devices and/or applications, even if they are accessible through our Services.

 

Please note that, unless we define a term in this Privacy Policy, all capitalized terms used in this Privacy Policy have the same meanings as in our Terms of Service. So, please make sure that you have read and understand our Terms of Service. https://www.stringify.com/terms

 

Revisions to this Privacy Policy

Any information that is collected via our Services is covered by the Privacy Policy in effect at the time such information is collected. We may revise this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make any material changes to this Privacy Policy, we’ll notify you of those changes by posting them on the Services or by sending you an email or other notification, and we’ll update the “Last Updated Date” above to indicate when those changes will become effective.

 

Collection and Use of Information

We collect information from users of our services to provide and improve our Services, to administer your use of the Services (including your Account, if you are an Account holder).

 

Account Information. If you create an Account, we’ll collect certain information that can be used to directly identify you, such as your name, email address, phone number, and we may also collect other information that may be able to be used to indirectly identify you. All of this information is referred to in this Privacy Policy as “Personal Information”. For users Europe, Personal Information includes any information we receive from you through your use of the Services.

 

Connecting to Your Things. Using our Services, you can connect to and use third party services, websites, devices, resources and/or applications. When you do this, and when you have set your privacy settings for your account to enable us to do so, we will access and collect certain Personal Information from third party services, devices and/or applications providers you use to permit us to access those services, devices or applications. We never see or store your login credentials for your accounts with your third party services, websites, devices and/or application providers.

 

Information Sent by Your Mobile Device. We collect certain information from mobile device when you use our Services, like your unique device identifier, advertising identifiers, user settings, as well as mobile network information and information about your use of our Services. If you access the App via an iOS device and store your username and password for your Account in iCloud Keychain, we will authenticate your access using information you have stored for your account in iCloud Keychain.

 

Location Information. When you use the App, we may collect and store information about your location by converting your IP address into a rough geo-location or by accessing your mobile device’s GPS coordinates if you enable location services on your device. We may use location information to improve and personalize our Services for you. If you do not want us to collect location information, then should disable that feature on your mobile device.

 

Information Collected Using Cookies and other Web Technologies. Like many website owners and operators, we use automated data collection tools such as Cookies and Web Beacons to collect certain information.

 

“Cookies” are small text files that are placed on your hard drive by a web server when you access our Services. We may use both session Cookies and persistent Cookies to identify that you’ve logged in to the Services and to tell us how and when you interact with our Services. We may also use Cookies to monitor aggregate usage and web traffic routing on our Services and to customize and improve our Services. Unlike persistent Cookies, session Cookies are deleted when you log off from the Services and close your browser. Although most browsers automatically accept Cookies, you can change your browser options to stop automatically accepting Cookies or to prompt you before accepting Cookies. Please note, however, that if you don’t accept Cookies, you may not be able to access and use all features of the Services. Some third-party services providers that we engage (including third-party advertisers) may also place their own Cookies on your hard drive. Note that this Privacy Policy covers only our use of Cookies and does not include use of Cookies by such third parties.

 

“Web Beacons” (also known as Web bugs, pixel tags or clear GIFs) are tiny graphics with a unique identifier that may be included on our Services for several purposes, including to deliver or communicate with Cookies, to track and measure the performance of our Services, to monitor how many visitors view our Services, and to monitor the effectiveness of our advertising. Unlike Cookies, which are stored on the user’s hard drive, Web Beacons are typically embedded invisibly on web pages (or in an e-mail).

 

Information Related to Performance & Use of the Services. We monitor, and collect data about, the performance of our Services and how users (including you), including both Account holders and non-Account holders (either, a “User”) interact with and use our Services and the third party services, devices, websites, resources and/or applications accessible through our Services. Our servers automatically record this information, which we refer to as “Technical & Usage Data.” Technical & Usage Data may include information such as a User’s device hardware model, Internet Protocol (IP) address, browser type, App version, operating system and version, the services that a User was visiting before accessing our Services, the areas or features of our Services which a User viewed and the time spent on those areas or features, search terms, the links on our Services that a User clicked on and other statistics. We use Technical & Usage Data to administer the Services and to develop new products and services and we analyze (and may engage third parties to analyze) Technical & Usage Data to improve, customize and enhance our products and Services by expanding their features and functionality and tailoring them to our Users’ needs and preferences. We may use a person’s IP address to generate aggregated, non-identifying information about how our Services are used.

 

Information that We Share with Third Parties

Information Shared with Your Services, Device and/or Application Providers. If through the functionality of the Services, you connect to your third party services, device and/or application providers, we will share such of your Personal Information with your third party services, device and/or application providers as is necessary for us to complete your request.

 

Information Shared with Our Services Providers. We may engage third-party services providers to work with us to administer and provide the Services. These third-party services providers have access to your Personal Information only for the purpose of performing services on our behalf and are expressly obligated not to disclose or use your Personal Information for any other purpose.

 

Aggregated Information. We may share aggregated information and non-identifying information (including Technical & Usage Data) with third parties for industry research and analysis, demographic profiling, marketing and other similar purposes or as part of a separate product or service offering.

 

Information You May Decide to Share. If you decide to publish your “flows” (two or more of your things that are connected together), your flows may be visible to others. In addition, to the extent you decide to connect with friends and family, we may invite them on your behalf to use the Services by email. To the extent your friends and/or family members elect to register to use the Services and agree to participate in your flows, we may notify you as they interact with your flows (e.g., you may receive a notification when your spouse leaves home). You may change these settings at any time.

 

Information Disclosed in Connection with Business Transactions. If we are acquired by a third party as a result of a transaction such as a merger, acquisition or asset sale or if our assets are acquired by a third party in the event we go out of business or enter bankruptcy, some or all of our assets, which may include your Personal Information, may be disclosed or transferred to a third party acquirer in connection with the transaction.

 

Information Disclosed for Our Protection and the Protection of Others. We cooperate with government and law enforcement officials or private parties to enforce and comply with the law. We may disclose any information about you to government or law enforcement officials or private parties as we, in our sole discretion, believe necessary or appropriate: (i) to respond to claims, legal process (including subpoenas); (ii) to protect our property, rights and safety and the property, rights and safety of a third party or the public in general; and (iii) to stop any activity that we consider illegal, unethical or legally actionable activity.

 

Your Choices

We offer you choices regarding the collection, use and sharing of your Personal Information and we’ll respect the choices you make. Please note that if you decide not to provide us with the Personal Information that we request, you may not be able to access all of the features of the Services.

 

Opt-Out. We may periodically send you free newsletters and e-mails that directly promote our Services. When you receive such promotional communications from us, you will have the opportunity to “opt-out” (either through your Account or by following the unsubscribe instructions provided in the e-mail you receive). We do need to send you certain communications regarding the Services and you will not be able to opt out of those communications – e.g., communications regarding updates to our Terms of Service or this Privacy Policy or information about billing.

 

Modifying Your Information. You can access and modify the Personal Information associated with your Account via the Account Settings section of your Account. Note, however, that deleting the App on your device does not delete your Stringify account nor the Personal Information that you have provided to us. If you want us to delete your Personal Information and your Account, please contact us at support@stringify.com with your request. We’ll take steps to delete your information as soon we can, but some information may remain in archived/backup copies for our records or as otherwise required by law.

 

Responding to Do Not Track Signals

 

Our Site does not have the capability to respond to “Do Not Track” signals received from various web browsers.

 

The Security of Your Information

We take reasonable administrative, physical and electronic measures designed to protect the information that we collect from or about you (including your Personal Information) from unauthorized access, use or disclosure. When you enter sensitive information on our forms, we encrypt this data using SSL or other technologies. Please be aware, however, that no method of transmitting information over the Internet or storing information is completely secure. Accordingly, we cannot guarantee the absolute security of any information.

 

Links to Other Sites

Our Services may contain links to websites and services that are owned or operated by third parties (each, a “Third-party Service”). Any information that you provide on or to a Third-party Service or that is collected by a Third-party Service is provided directly to the owner or operator of the Third-party Service and is subject to the owner’s or operator’s privacy policy. We’re not responsible for the content, privacy or security practices and policies of any Third-party Service. To protect your information we recommend that you carefully review the privacy policies of all Third-party Services that you access.

 

International Transfer

Your Personal Information may be transferred to, and maintained on, computers located outside of your state, province, country or other governmental jurisdiction where the privacy laws may not be as protective as those in your jurisdiction. If you’re located in the European Economic Area (“EEA”) and choose to provide your Personal Information to us, your Personal Information may be transferred to, and stored at, a destination outside the EEA. In particular it may be transferred to and stored in the United States. By using the Services, you consent to the transfer of your Personal Information in this manner and for these purposes. We ensure that protections are in place to ensure that your Personal Information is held and processed in line with legal requirements. Our Policy Toward Children

Our Services are not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect Personal Information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected Personal Information of a child under 13 we will take steps to delete such information from our files as soon as possible.

 

Your California Privacy Rights

California residents may request and obtain from us, once a year, free of charge, a list of third parties, if any, to which we disclosed their Personal Information for direct marketing purposes during the preceding calendar year and the categories of Personal Information shared with those third parties. If you are a California resident and wish to obtain that information, please submit your request by sending us an email at support@stringify.com with “California Privacy Rights” in the subject line.

 

European Users

 

In the addition to the information set out above, the following information applies only to users in Europe.

 

The legal bases on which we use your information

 

In using your information for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, we typically rely on the following legal bases, where we use your information as described above:

 

  • Where it is necessary to fulfil a contract that we have in place with you. Examples of situations where we rely on this basis include where we have a contract with you to provide you with Services or provide you with a sweepstake prize you have won.
  • Where it is necessary for the purposes our legitimate interests as a global media organisation. This may include our interests in understanding our customers, ensuring our services are being provided efficiently and satisfactorily and ensuring proper administration of our businesses. Examples of situations where we rely on this basis include providing you with technical support, responding to your requests and inquiries, preventing fraud or any other potentially illegal activities and protecting the safety of our users and others.
  • Where it is necessary in order to comply with a legal obligation to which we are subject Examples of situations where we rely on this basis include complying with subpoenas, search warrants and court orders;
  • Where you have given us your consent to do so. Examples include where we need to send you newsletters and marketing information about products, services and promotions.

 

Porting Data

 

In addition to the rights above, you may have the right to have the information you have provided to us and which we use to provide services to you in a machine-readable format.

Change of mind or objection

Where you have given us consent to use your information for any of the above purposes, you have the right to withdraw that consent at any time. You may also have a right to object to our use of your information where we are relying on a legitimate interest and there is something about your particular situation that makes you want to object to our processing on this ground.

These rights do not apply in all cases however. Please contact support@stringify.com for more information about whether these rights apply if so how they can be exercised.

How long we keep your information

We will keep your information only for long as it is necessary for the purposes described above (to provide you with the service or deliver a product, for our legitimate interests as described above and in order to detect and prevent fraud, and comply with our legal and regulatory obligations). This period will vary depending on your interactions with us. For example, depending on the type of Service, we may retain your account data for a reasonable period of time after your last activity or after you stop paying for services. This is to enable you to easily come back and start using the service again. We may also keep a record of correspondence with you relating to the Services, for example, if you have made a complaint, for as long as is necessary to protect us from a legal claim. Similarly, when you unsubscribe from our email newsletters or promotional emails, we will keep a record of your email address to ensure we do not send you marketing emails in the future.

In all cases, where we no longer have a need to keep your information, we will delete or anonymise it.
